Answers to what homeowners often ask, and how to reach a person. If something isn’t right with a system already on your roof, call us first on freephone 0800 593 0413.
Getting started
It starts with your postcode. We find your roof in aerial imagery and read it from above: the pitch, which way it faces, the area that could take panels and the shade around it. From that we size a solar array and price it twice, with and without a battery, side by side. How the estimate works.
Enter your postcode, then your name and email so we can send your estimate. Add a phone number if you’d like a call. You can also use the contact form to tell us what you’re interested in, and “Not sure yet” is a fine answer. Nobody visits at this stage, and nothing is signed.
Your estimate and survey
Your estimate is a range, not a quote. It shows the system we’d size for your roof, its price with and without a battery, and what it could save on the assumptions it states. Tariffs and export rates vary by supplier, so check those assumptions against your own bill.
The survey is a check, not a pitch. A surveyor visits to confirm what we read from above and see what the air can’t, from the rafters to the consumer unit. They measure, check, photograph and explain. Then they leave. Signed on the day: nothing. Survey day, step by step.
Before the visit, please have ready:
- access to the loft hatch
- a clear path to the fuse box and meter
- any questions, however small
If the survey finds something that moves the price, such as rafters that need extra fixings or a consumer unit that needs work, you’ll know why before you sign anything.
Introductions and installers
We don’t install. We choose who does. Every installer we introduce holds all seven of our checks, from MCS certification to a rating of 4.8★ or higher on independent review platforms. A great price from an installer who misses one of the seven is still a no. How one name is chosen.
With your agreement, the installer we introduce receives your job file: the roof we read from above, the survey notes and photos, and the quote we’ve checked. Nobody asks you the same question twice.
The installer contracts with you directly and does the work, and we keep in touch with them throughout. A larger system needs the grid’s approval before it is fitted, and we chase that too. Then comes sign-off: certificates issued, the grid notified, your export payments applied for. We chase until each is done.
The LuminAsset app
The LuminAsset app is coming soon to iOS and Android. It will let you follow the whole job from your phone:
- see the roof we read from above
- choose Direct Purchase or a Power Purchase Agreement, and understand the Power Purchase Agreement process before you decide
- follow each step: survey, approvals, documents, payments and installation
- if you rent, add your landlord’s details and see where their approval stands
It will work from the same job file we use, written for the person who lives under the roof. More about the app. Until then, call or email us for an update on any part of your job.
Something not right after installation
Call us first. We know who fitted it, what they promised and who to chase.
A solar system carries more than one warranty: the installer’s workmanship warranty, backed by insurance in case they stop trading, and the manufacturers’ warranties on the panels, inverter and battery, if you have one. We keep them together, so you don’t have to work out which applies. Warranties and aftercare.
When you call, tell us what you’ve noticed, when it started and any warning light on the inverter or battery. Please don’t try to repair it yourself.
If you see any sign of danger, such as smoke, a burning smell or sparking, keep clear and call 999. Then call us.
Your data
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@luminasset.co.uk or call 0800 593 0413. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we’ll reply within one month. If the law requires us to keep some records, we’ll tell you which and why. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Common questions
Is my estimate a quote?
No. It’s a range worked out from aerial imagery and the assumptions it states. The survey checks the roof figures and the price range, and the price you pay is the one in the installer’s quote.
Does the survey commit me to anything?
No. Nothing is signed on the day. Afterwards, you decide whether you’d like to be introduced to an installer.
Why do you introduce only one installer?
Because every enquiry narrows the same way. From the installers who clear all seven checks and cover your postcode, we introduce the one with the best price, accreditation and reviews for your roof. Not your details passed to five sales teams.
I rent my home. Can I still get an estimate?
Yes. Any work needs your landlord’s approval first. When the app arrives, you’ll be able to add their details and see where their approval stands.
